Jean-Luc Besset

DigiEduHack National Ambassador

As the CEO of Ever.li, I combine my passion for history and education with my expertise in artificial intelligence and digital humanities. I have over 5 years of experience leading a team of developers, historians, and educators to create a historical mobile application that connects the past with the present and the future.

Ever.li's mission is to educate and inspire users by recreating and structuring the past numerically, theme by theme, event by event, with geolocation, audio presentation, music, and podcasts. We have compiled over 25,000 events and 2,300 themes from various sources and databases, covering topics such as politics, wars, civilizations, expeditions, art, literature, science, technology, and more. Our app is designed for academics, professors, lecturers, guides, museums, and anyone who wants to learn and explore history in a fun and interactive way.

I has been Consultant in Digital History at Stanford University during my 6 years in California and developed a mobile app in collaboration with History professor Clayborne Carson, director of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Research & Education Institute archives.

I was a senior expert at History News Network, where I developed and monitored complex systems connecting French databases, historical ontologies, and chronologies. I also have a strong background in the humanities and history, with a master's degree from Sciences Po Aix and a master's degree in marketing from SKEMA Business School. I am currently a history and geopolitics professor, where I share my knowledge and enthusiasm with my students. I am also a certified Prompt Engineer for ChatGPT, a natural language processing tool that enables conversational agents. I have published a master's thesis on the influential work of the French historian Fernand Braudel, and I speak English and French fluently.

I am passionate about the application of artificial intelligence and humanities to solve great and complex problems, with a consideration of its ethical and social issues. I am always eager to learn new skills, collaborate with diverse teams, and innovate in the field of digital history and edtech. I believe that history is not only a subject of study, but also a source of inspiration, wisdom, and creativity.
